Joe Miskulin

This site is dedicated to the stories of my father. I have the great opportunity to be able to digitally record his stories--as told by him--and give them to the world. These stories cover 9 decades, 16 U.S. presidents, 8 Constitutional Amendments, and a World War. These stories are told by someone who was there. They aren't officially sanctioned or politically correct. They're just true.

Sharing Memories

A major part of any memories are photographs. During his time in World War II, Joe took quite a number of photos. Even better, he took the time to write (or type) descriptions on the backs of most of them, including places and dates. This is invaluable information for historians, and quite interesting for all the rest of us.

The Photo Gallery is a collection of Joe’s photos–both the ones he took and the ones others took of him–during his early years. At current guess, there are around 400 photographs to be scanned, prepared, uploaded, and edited. That may sound like a lot, but it’s only a small fraction of the photos he took.

On his return home to the States after the war, his duffle bag–with his camera, and several thousand more photos–was stolen. It’s almost certain that the person was after his camera, and threw away all the photos; threw away all those memories and all that invaluable history.

I’m going to go out on a limb and make a request: If the people and places in these photographs look familiar–if your father or grandfather has photos that match these–I would like the opportunity to scan them and record the notations on the back. I will return the originals to you, and pay for all the shipping costs. You can contact me using the contact form on this site (to be installed shortly).

Teachers & Historians

If you would like copies of any of these photos for teaching or study, feel free to contact me. I will provide high-quality scans. The only stipulation is proper credit be given if they’re used in any publication, and that the small copyright watermark not be removed.
